It’s been quite some time since we’ve had the pleasure of sharing new music with our readers. Lucky for us, rising star OLU has given us something great to share! I adore this track and I want you to get all the way into it! The overall concept of the song is great and focuses on something many of us twentysomethings face time and time again–taking someone back because we can’t let them go!
OLU is a 24 year old Nigerian American singer/songwriter from Lawrenceville, GA and the second artist ever signed to East Chain, an independent label founded in Atlanta,GA by Deandre Hunter, Michael Aristotle and Willy Hendrix. OLU grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and has been influenced by tons of African music. OLU recently graduated from Georgia State but has confirmed that music entertainment is his true calling.
“This is my first record released under East Chain and it’s very exciting for all of us. Square One was produced by Renan Calistro (@CalistrosHouse) and is very special because it talks about not being able to get over someone. Dre (@DreInkwel, my songwriting partner) and I felt that alot of people could relate to this record. It’s the point in time when a woman comes back in your life after you both have moved on. Now that she comes back in your life all these feelings come rushing back to you and its overwhelming. Every time she comes around you, it feels like the first time y’all fell in love. You tried to move on but you go back to square one, hence the title.” –@TheRealOlu
It was a no brainer to get Michael Aristotle (@MikeyAristotle), first member of East Chain on Square One because he already has the street buzzing especially with his new album “Thanks For Nothing” A feature on Square One brought a hiphop influence and sealed the deal for East Chain.
Square one is a warmup for the public and I will be releasing new material soon! Please stay tuned and be sure to check out my latest video shot by Patrick Foley (@HuedProductions.)
