  • Loves to eat.
  • Loves The Isley Brothers.
  • Loves being read to.
  • Loves being held.
  • Can yell.
  • Can play.
  • Can communicate using facial expressions.

I shared with you what I learned from giving birth and my first week postpartum and now I’m going to share with you what ‘postpartum life be like’ at 6 weeks! Let’s get into it:

Postpartum Life: Week 6

I showed you what my nightstand looked like after 1 week postpartum and if you’re wondering what it looks like now… I’ll just tell you that I had to buy a second nightstand and I am embarrassed to show you either one! Here’s what I’ve learned 6 weeks postpartum:

  • TIME STANDS STILL FOR NO MAN–or woman.
  • Motherhood is awesome–it literally is an indescribable feeling.
  • You made a human. YOU. ARE. AMAZING.
  • You didn’t know you could be ruled by a person who isn’t even 2 months old–but you can and you are.
  • The amount of laundry involved in being a parent is literally unbelievable–and I’m only washing for two.
  • Sleep is still precious. Get you some.
  • Gripe water is a miracle worker. If baby has gas, I promise this will help tremendously.
  • Coffee is even more beautiful than I ever imagined before.
  • Wine tastes better than it did before you were pregnant.
  • Nipple butter is still life.
  • Your vagina will never be the same. I mean that in the most humorous way possible. Don’t panic.
  • The things you can do with one hand will literally amaze you.
  • The DIY Moby Wrap is the best gift you can give yourself.
  • It’s still okay to be selfish with your baby.
  • It’s still okay to take a moment away from baby.
  • Don’t feel bad for needing a moment away from baby.
  • Receive the help being offered to you. Let people help you. Don’t block your blessings.
  • Taking a shower is a little piece of Heaven.
  • Your breasts are very similar to a leaky faucet–#breastpadsarelife
  • Always have extra clothes for baby and yourself.
  • You are a sexy mom–don’t become a victim of frumpy mom life.
  • When you look good, you feel better so take the time to get dressed when you go somewhere.
  • Keep close friends and family in the loop by allowing them to visit baby or by sending updates and pictures.
  • Talk to baby, read to baby, sing to baby, play with baby–everyday.
  • Continue learning everything you can about your baby.
  • Nobody knows what best for your baby, but you. Except advice, but do your own research.
  • Continue maintaining your relationship with baby’s pediatrician. SHOTS ARE COMING UP SOON. :(
  • Keep spoiling your baby. You can’t hold him/her too much.
  • Love on baby as often as you feel the need to.
  • CHERISH. EVERY. MOMENT.

Her passions include writing, spreading joy, and making love. If she were stranded on a desert island, she’d need her Keurig, pens, paper, and the Baduizm album to die happily–or to survive until someone rescued her. Her greatest blessings in life are her family because even when she had nothing at all, they still made her rich beyond belief.
